I have over 100 items of personal mail in my Outlook mailbox at work. I made
a file in which it is all collected. I have to remove my personal mail file
due to size limitations. I want to save all of the mail and attachments to a
flash drive in a format I will be able to read even if the computer where I
open it doesn't have Outlook. Is this possible? I have tried to copy and
paste the folder, and individual e-mails, into the flashdrive but it only
creates a shortcut.

Create a personal folder (PST) for this email and move it to the folder. It
removes it from your work mailbox which may have a cap on it but keeps it in
a data format that Outlook can read.

If I make a PST file on my flashdrive I will only be able to read the mail on
a computer that has Outlook, right? Is there a way to convert the contents
to, for example, Word, so that it can be read on a computer without Outlook?
It would mean saving the contents somehow as text, I guess.

You have the option of using File > Save As with each open email. You can
choose text or html.
