Saving in Plain Text Format

I'm using a Courier, 12-pt. font for a message and then saving it in plain
text format. When I reopen the file, the text has changed to a 10.5-pt. font.
Is there any way to keep the 12-pt. font from changing to a 10.5-pt font when
saving in plain text format?

Modify the Plain Text paragraph style.

Not without knowing what version you're using.

Plain text does not store font information - only text, so the display is
determined by the application it is viewed in. When the text document is
opened in Word that is determined by the Plain Text paragraph style in
normal.dot. Edit that style's font size to 12 point.

But how (easily) you get to the Modify Style dialog will depend on version.
