Saving e-mail messages outside of Outlook pst file

Is there a way to save individual e-mail messages to a folder outside of
Outlooks pst file? I discovered that I can drag & drop a meessage onto my
desktop and then copy it to specific folder on our company network. that is
very time consuming!! Is there a way to asign multiple locations for e-amil
to be saved for easier reference at a later date?

the reason I'm asking is my company works on hundreds of projects each year
& many different people participate on a given project. documenting
correspondence in one project folder for all electronic data for that project
is CRITICAL! Right now we use Outlook for all e-mailing. the problem with
the way outlook saves e-mail messages is they reside in each individuals pst
file and not in the project folder on the network. when projects are
completed we archive them for up to 10 yrs in some cases. you can imagine
the nightmare senerio if we needed to review all correspondence on a project
that took place 8 yrs ago! we would have to search every former employee
saved e-mail to be certain we didn't miss anything. That would be a
monumental task to say the least!

This issue is a top priority for my company to resolve. HELP!?

You might want to look at some of the tools at http://www.slipstick.com/addins/housekeeping.htm for making copies of messages outside your normal folders.
