I am trying to copy my documents and settings file to a
CD ROM as a backup. I don't have Microsoft Backup with
my XP Home eition and always feel wary about using backup
programs in case the files become corrupted anyway.

Whe I try to copy the folder, or one of its sub folders,
to a CD-ROM I get a message:
"The destination is a sub folder of the source folder"

How can I solve this?

First....MS Backup is not installed automatically with XP...but, you can
still install it from the installation CD. Insert the install CD and go to
\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP and double click on NTBACKUP.MSI

Second, you might try to SEND My Docuements to the CD instead of copying it.
