Saving Document so others can not edit

using ME, how do I save a word document so that it can not
be edited by anyone other than myself?

I need to email this document to others and do not want
them to be able to change the document

This is not possible.
The best you can do is save as a PDF (for which you'll need extra
software) - see the appropriate section at
http://www.gmayor.dsl.pipex.com/favorite.htm
Even so, if a document can be viewed, ultimately it can be copied and
edited.
