Saving desktop - layout et al

I do some fairly substantial customzing of my desktop, where I display a
large number of icons, customize the icons and font size, etc..

When I have occasion to do something like boot into safe mode, the display
of course gets pretty well changed, and when I reboot into my normal mode,
the icons are totally rearranged. Then of course I have to sort that all
out, and place them where I want them.

I know I can save a desktop "theme". But, is it possible to save the
complete desktop, including the position of all the icons, etc.? This would
save me time after getting them jumbled, if I could just reload that saved
setting.

I found that if I keep my desktop icons up away from the bottom of the
screen, they don't get moved around when I switch resolution or enter safe
mode. (At a lower resolution, you can't fit as many rows onscreen.) Some
games apparently change resolution when going fullscreen and that sometimes
messed with the arrangement also. I still have them rearrange for no
apparent reason, but it's very rare now.

Drew,

Thanks for the lead. I'm a subccriber to PC Mag's utilities, so there was no
cost to download. It looks like what I wanted. I always like Neil
Rubenking's utilities.
