Saving CD backups

Hello everyone. I have created several websites using FrontPage 2002. My clients all expect copies burned on a CD of their websites. My problem is, when I burn these CD's the file are Read Only files and my clients can access the files, but can't make any changes to them. This is now how my CD writer is set up - so I believe it has something to do with the FP program itself.

Can someone help me to make CD backups of websites that will be fully useable by others

Thank yo

Susan

Outside of the fact that all your clients have to do is to change the
properties of the files after they are saved on their computers, ask WHY
they have to be able to change those files. Aren't YOU the one who should be
changing them per their directions? Seems to me they don't need you any more
if they can make their own revisions.

CD files by default are read only. It has nothing to do with FrontPage

Thank you for your comments. I have a legal obligation to provide my clients with their web site information. It is their information and not mine to keep. My clients retain me to develop and maintain their sites, they simply want a copy to keep on hand. If they choose to maintain or develop their sites beyond what I was contracted for - that is their business and I wish them well. As the bulk of my business is not web site design anyways, I'm not losing an "income" from these clients as I tend to offer other services to them. Web site design and maintenance is a value-added service to my clients and one they appreciate

You will need to explain to your clients that they must copy the files from
the CD to a folder on their desktop, then in Windows Explorer select all
files in the folder and remove the read-only attribute. They will also need
to have the same version of FP that you are using if you have used any of
the FP design or run time features.

Thomas - thank you for your assistance.

Your instructions are very much appreciated

Thomas,

Wouldn't they need the server too, if they want to run the runtime stuff?
