Saving avi files makes jerky images

Dear all,

I want to record home-made movies to DVD. In the Video
setting panel of the wizard, if I click on Digital Device
Format (DV-AVI), the recording and playback are very
jerky (both image and sound). This doesn't happen for
the WMV setting. With a Pentium 4 2.26Ghz and 736Mb RAM,
I am told the issue is possibly a conflict. How can I
find it or resolve the irritating jerk, please ?
