In OUtlook Express, every time I go to File , Save Attachments it goes to My
Documents even if I have just saved an attachment to a different folder...in
Windows 98, to would go to the last folder you saved to...
I am trying to save attachments from many emails, and this seems very
tedious to have to browse each time for the proper folder.
I hope this is clear...
Can anyone help please?
Thanks,
Drake

Unless there's a Registry string that can be edited to change the default
(I'm not aware of one): Here are my work arounds: I don't use File/Save
attachments. I right click the attachment and click Save As. When the Save
Attachment window opens, I navigate to the folder where I want the
attachment saved. Any subsequent Save As during the same session will
default to opening the Save As window in that last saved to folder. Or, if
I have folders where I frequently save attachments to, I create shortcuts to
those folders in My Documents and My Pictures. Then I can right click an
attachment, then left click Save As, then when the Save As window opens I
double my shortcut for the folder where I want the attachment saved to.
Using that method, instead of having to navigate to the folder, the shortcut
takes me there and I can save the attachment. For example, if you often
save attachments to a folder named Drake 2004. Right click an Outlook
Express attachment, left click Save As, when the Save As window opens, right
click an empty area, left click New/Shortcut, use the Browse button to
navigate and select the folder Drake 2004, and finish the wizard. The next
time you right click an attachment and left click Save As, you'll see a
folder (really a shortcut to a folder) Drake 2004, double click that and it
will take you directly to the Drake 2004 folder, where you would then click
the Save button. The bulk of my attachments are JPGs, which Outlook Express
defaults to the My Pictures folder. I have virtually no files in THAT
folder, just shortcuts to the folders where I do save my attachments to.

Thanks for your help...and I do just what you say when saving a .jpg., but I
receive many files that are attached so I will have to create the shortcuts
as you say.
