Saving a template

I want to create a template that will save the full path
name of the file in the footer. It has to be transparent
to the user. (In other words they do nothing out of the
ordinary when writing docs in Word.)

Is there some way I can add a Macro or some code to the
normal save button? or replace the normal save button?

Hi, Matt,

You don't need a macro for this.

Open the footer pane of the template. The Header/Footer toolbar should be
visible. Click the Insert AutoText button on the toolbar, and select
"Filename and path" from the menu. That inserts a field that will display
the full path and name of the file for any document created from this
template.
