Saving a distribution list to OUTLOOK 2003 Contact folder

I received an email distribution list attached to an email from another MS
OUTLOOK 2003 user. I clicked on the attached DL and it opened with MS OUTLOOK
dialog box. I pressed the Save & Close button and expected to find the DL
saved in my Contact folder. I looked in the alphabetical listing and couldn’t
find it, used Advanced Find and couldn’t find it and finally scanned all
contacts and couldn't find it.

I then saved it took desktop and saw its simple formatted RTF file.

What did I do wrong?

How do I save this DL into my contact folder to use for distributing emails?
