saving a converted lotus file

When I take a Lotus 123 file and save it as an Excel file
and then open the file in Excel, Excel opens the file
twice. In the title bar is says name.1 and name.2. Why
is this?

There are two windows open of the file.

I understand that two windows are open. My question is
why is it doing that? This only happens with previous
Lotus 123 files that I now use in Excel.
