saved password error

Recently upgraded win me to win xp. I saved my internet connection pw and
opted to dial a connection whenever one is not present. However, whenever the
internet connection screen pops up, the saved password has been altered. It
looks like the saved pw has been entered twice. Has anyone else experienced
this problem? Is there a workaround, other than having to enter the pw each
time I want to connect?

Thanks

Laurie,

Are you saying that there's more * or whatever in the saved password box than
there should be? That's normal - so not to give away how many characters you
chose for your password. Try it as saved, see if it works.

Do you mean that there are more asterisks (stars) than characters in
your password? If so, this is normal and your correct password is being
used. XP uses more asterisks than characters as a security feature.

Thanks, Chuck & Malke. I was not aware of this security feature, and my saved
pw works fine as you each suggested.
