Saved Changes Gone Next Time Document is Opened

This morning in an existing .xlsx spreadsheet, I changed the font in cells
I3:N3 to strikethrough and modified the formulas in cells K23:N23 to start
with I4 instead of I3. I made these changes, saved the document, printed it,
closed it. Then I had to reopen it to print again and the strikethrough and
formula changes were not there.

This has happened sporadically and doesn't happen all the time but I'm sure
it's happening now and not that I'm just forgetting to save. Others in the
company are experiencing similar issues with changes not saving in Word 2007
and now it's in Excel 2007 as well.

We are using Novell file servers, and this document was edited and saved on
a Novell mapped drive. I recieved no errors indicating the file couldn't be
saved.

Ideas/suggestions?

Is this a shared file? Could other users be opening an older version and
then saving over your changes?

Is the path you are opening exactly the path that it is being saved to?

(When I make changes I deem important to shared files on a server I normally
also save the file to my local computer as well. This gives you kind of a
backup file so to speak.)

I discovered a well known issue regarding this problem and Novell networks, I
have pushed a registry key to turn off client side file caching for the
Novell client, since that change we no longer have these problems.
