Save what changes?!

Jake

When I try to close certain Word documents without having changed
them, the program nevertheless asks me "Do you want to save the
changes to *.doc?". I can't figure out what's so special about those
docs. Why does Word do that and what can I do to stop that?

Thanks.

Hi Jake,
Often there are fields in a document that are updated when you open it such
as dates, TOCs, and indexes . Even such a simple thing as switching to the
Print Preview can provoke changes that need to be saved.
Also I have read that bad add-ins can cause this behaviour, I am not sure
but the Microsoft Works add-in for Word can cause this.
Also check this link: See "WD2002: You Are Prompted to Save Changes When You
Close a Document Even
Though You Have Made No Changes" at
