save users and groups

Windows 2000 Pro and Windows 2000 Server.

How do you save a list of users and groups WITH associated permissions?
The export list function only makes a text file of user names and their
descriptions.

And if there is a way to export, is there a way to import? Thank you.

There are ways. One is to use ldifde utility, it has ability to both import
and export objects (not only users and groups) to and from AD. The files it
produce, however, are not very readable - i.e. it may be hard to distinguish
the information you need. The tool is good for bulk imports and bulk
modifications.

The other way is to use scripting. With scripts you can get literally any
data you need, and in the format you need. Check scripting guys in adsi
newsgroup.
