save to a secure program

A previous employee created programs in access and now I cannot save changes
due to security. Where would I go to take this security off?

You have to be more specific. Security is a broad topic.
From your description it appears you were able to get into the
program, but then you cannot save anything. Is that correct?
Were you prompted for a password?
Were you prompted for a username + password?
