Save icons positions on desktop

Hi,

WinXP Pro
Graphics card is Geforce FX5200 with latest NVIDIA drivers.

How can I save positions of my icons on desktop ? I have options in NVIDIA
menus to save desktop aspect, and so on, but didn't find one for the icons.

On earlier PC had Matrox Powerdesk that allowed this

Any idea here ?

Thanks !

I think I read you correctly.... Right click the Desktop. Select 'Arrange
Icons By' and uncheck 'Auto Arrange'. You can then position the icons
anywhere.

No that's not the problem. I want them to allways stay where I decide to put
them.
Sometimes, after errors windows rearranges them according to it's own rules.
I THEN want to be able to quickly restore the icons to the locations I want
them to be, without having to tediously move them one at a time !

There are some operations that cause the desktop to be rearranged, no
matter what. Changes in display resolution for example. Using the
'align to grid' makes recovery from these a good deal easier.

THe only sure way to get the arrangement back is a system restore made
at an earlier time - but this may well unwind the change that caused the
problem, as well as other changes made in the interval. It can be
useful if you had to go to a low resolution temporarily, when it will
put the standard one back too, but that's about all.
