Hi

Whenever I save, the dialogue box always uses the list view by default.

I find it easier to find the folder I want to go to by switching to the
detailed view then sorting the folders alphabetically.

Its so tedious and frustrating having to do this every time.

Is there a way to have the save box use the detailed view by default?

Thanks

Ian

Yeeeees.

For whatever unimaginable reason ms doesn't seem to want you to
have that option. Here's a few 3rd party software to make the
dialog windows behave more like you may want them to:

'OpenWide' by 'Luke Hudson' (Freeware)
<http://lingo.atspace.com/openwide.html>
For me, it works with many but not all Open/Save Dialogs.
I use this under WinXP. (It does not work under Win98SE)

'MultiEnhancer' by 'ElmüSoft' (Freeware)
<http://www.netcult.ch/elmue/ElmueSoft-en.htm>
(ca 20% down the long anchorless page)
Patches many versions of Windows and WinNT(including WinXP).
I use this under Win98SE.

'File-Ex' by 'Cottonwood Software' (Payware,20 USD,30-day Trial)
<http://www.cottonwoodsw.com/fx3summ.html>
I haven't tried this one yet.

Hi

Fantastic!

Thank you SO much.

Exactly what I was looking for and great that I can resize that bloody box
too.

Lots of interesting extra widgets on Elmusoft too.

Thanks again!

With the resolutions/monitor-sizes available today, absolutely. :-)

About 'MultiEnhancer' i want to add that the 'Type'-column is
still there, just with a width set to zero. You can get it back
by carefully dragging at the columnheader-border between the
'Size' and 'Date Modified' columns.

I think that because i couldn't resize the windows horizontally
in 'MultiEnhancer' is why i prefer to use 'OpenWide' where i can.

Thanks again!

You're welcome.
