save as not responding after installing latest updates

I have recently downloaded all the latest updates for Win XP and Office XP,
but I am now experiencing problems with the Save As in Word. If I want to
save a document I press the Save As button and the hour glass appears but not
the Save As box. The only way out of this is to turn the computer back to the
previous day with Restore and then all is well.

A Windows update has probably caused this - You can remove it from
Add/Remove Programs, where it shows as "Security Update for Windows XP
(KB908531)". Make sure the "show updates" box at the
top is ticked or you won't see hotfixes in the list. Set Windows not to
automatically install updates or it will come straight back.

I am having the same problem with both Word and Excel: Cannot "save as".

When will Microsoft have a real fix?
