While downloading a file, I inadvertently checked the do not show again box.
Now when I try to download a file, instead of giving me the option to save or
open, it tries to open, with no opertunity to save the file. If the file
extension is unknown (even though I know it) I get a window asking which
program to use to open.

How do I get back that window with the save button?

You set this for each file type
Windows Explorer-Tools-Folder Options-File Types
Find the association
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

That box is already checked. The file I'm trying to download is a
non-windows file (for a Psion computer). Therefore it's not going to open in
windows with any windows program. I need to save it so need to get back that
window which has a "save" button.
