save a copies of messages I send?

How do I automatically generate and save a copy of every email that I send?

Tools-Options and on the Preferences Tab click Email Options and check
the box "Save copies of messages in Sent items Folder". But I thought
this was the *default* setting anyway, so someone must have changed it.....
 
Tools > Options
Preferences tab : Email Options button
Activate the option"Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder"

Check "Save copies of messages in sent items folder."
