More on my new SATA2 HD install.
Well...not so quick. I since found that some of my other programs are in need
of repair-reinstall. This MAY include Win XP although I am not sure. WD's HD
test says all my drives are OK. Is there a way to check a Win XP install to
know if is intact?
I'm going to get a second SATA drive and set it up in a raid 1 array as an
external drive, but I want to clear up these program glitches first.
Thanks again,

I also thought of these 2 questions:
1-Should I abandon this rebuilding of applications. I still have at least 15
or so left to do. Some refuse to repair or uninstall because files are
missing. Finding them is a challenge.(An example of this was my repair of
Office 2003) Go right to a fresh install of WinXP on the SATA drive. I made a
slipstreamed disc of my WinXP-SP2 so I can install with all my upgrades.
2-What is the correct way to do this install.

Before this I had a correctly runing WinXP-SP2 setup with all current
updates on an Athlone 64 2000MHZ on Asus A8V motherboard based system with 1
GIG of 400MHZ ram, IDE 200GIG C:, IDE 30GIG bakup.

This is my solution to this problem.
WinXp is a very difficult operating system to clone from one disc to
another(IDE HD to SATA2 HD). WD's software never worked well. Too many errors
and uncopied files.
I tried these 2 and they both worked with no errors or dropped files.
Acronis True Image 9.0 Home & HDClone 3.1. The first is widely available for
a price. The second is shareware although you'll need a license for full
fonctionality.
Good luck to all that will thread this same way!
