SATA Question -- No Problem

This new homebrew machine is my first experience with SATA hard drives. I
was surprised to find, in BIOS, the drive showed up attached to an IDE
channel and showing up in the 'safely remove hardware' within Windows. Is
this normal? The drive is connected to the SATA connection on the mother
board.

Thank you.

yes, the IDE emulation allowed you to install without the SATA drivers
for booting, and the "Safely remove" is caused by the fact that SATA
supports hot swapping.

Its normal, but dependant on the chipset
You cannot remove the windows drive, if thats what concerns you

That was a concern of mine and I am glad you addressed it.
