i wanna install windows xp pro on a new system which has
only 1 HDD which is 200GB SATA.
im gonna partition it first so no prob with the 137gb
limit, but will i need to install SATA drivers or
something like that beforehand or will the installation cd
recognize the drive with no problems?

thanks in advance.

Your question depends on what chipset you are using. My computer (ASUS
P4P800) doesn't require any drivers being loaded during setup. Also, if
you have Service Pack 1 or 2 integrated into your Windows XP CD, you
don't need to worry about the 137 GB limit. Here is a simple guide on
how to slipstream a Service Pack (which I highly recommend doing before
you install Windows XP):

well, my mobo is MSI K8N neo that has the nforce 3 250gb
chipset.
it's apretty new mobo so i guess it should work...

The only way to find out is to try it. Also, newer isn't always better.
If your hardware is newer than the latest release of Windows, your
hardware may not be supported by Windows until you use the drivers that
came with the hardware. This means you may need to provide the correct
drivers for your SATA drive during Setup. You will just have to test
and see :)
