SATA drive

ahoy hoy

i just purchased a 120gb SATA drive and when i turn on
the pc the drive makes a wierd noise for like 45 seconds
and then it goeas away. Is this normal for a SATA? And
also i boot off a win98 boot disk, and try to run fdisk
and it comes up as " no phyiscal drives present ". any
help would be appreciated

SATA hd's, ( for which you need hardware support on the motherboard, and
thus drivers to be installed for it at boot-up), won't be available to the
system booting from a W98 start up floppy!

(Unless you're using a sata to ide converter....)
