Hey all;
I have a gigabyte GA-8I848P-G mobo with a 3GHZ P4, a 120GB IDE drive
(Primary master) and a DVD burner and CD rom (Secondary master and slave).
The mobo has two SATA 150mb/s ports. I got a 250GB SATA drive, connected it.
the mother board detects it very fine.
my XP Pro- SP1 dectes it and format it to full capacity with no problem.
Now the problem is that when i copy any file from anywhere to this SATA
drive, i experience VERY LOW transfer speed. Transfers are in the range of
4mbyte/s!!
I tried updating the motherboard BIOS and chipset with no good.
I ran a benchmark on the hard disk, and it reported that the average
transfer should be at 50mb/s with burst rate arount 100mb/s.
I knew that these rates are ok for a SATA drive. But these rates are never
achieved in copy process..!! I only copy on 4mb/s!!!!
Any help??
Thanks
