SATA 300 Hard drive

I installed a new sata hard drive and now my cdrom/dvd won't read, nor will
my A drive. I also had problems installing, it now says no sata recognized
but
it gives me the serial # of the hard drive and it seems to work okay.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the drive problems?

"Installed new SATA drive" ...As in what plans were you trying to use it,if
simply backup or storage,"it seems to work ok" as in what capacity....Is the
drive formatted, all hds come from the mfg in a "raw" state.Try going to the
mfg web site of youre board, locate & install the drivers for the SATA
controller.
After,go to run, type:diskmgmt.msc In msc,see what state its in...

ok will try that. It seems to work ok except my cd rom/dvd and A drive do not
work.
The device mangager says they are working properly. There is no update for
them I am ok there.

Have you checked the cables on the DVD and A drive?
If you disconnect the SATA drive, does the DVD and A drive work?
Do you have SATA connections on the motherboard?
What size power supply does the computer have?
