Hi

I just bought your hard disk hd753lj samsung smg f1 750gb 3.5 sata2

I assempled the disk to my pc but i did not manage to get it working.

I am having Windows 2000 version 5 build 2195 service pack4

I have may system running on Samsung sp121c disk connected to
AMD athlon MP, Barton, Socket a (462)
Abit nf7-s2g Nvidia nForce2 Ultra 400 v0.1 rev c1
bios phoenix 6.00pg 10/06/2004

Control panel shows under device manager IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers both
ATA and NVIDIA nFORCE2 Serial ATA Compatible Controller, with primary
channell Samsung sp1213c, transfer mode serialATA Generation 1 - 1.5G,
secondary channell empty. Driver date 11-feb-05, versio 5.10.2600.518
Driver provider Nvidia

I had a similiar Samsung hdd on second sata channell that i wanted to
replace with a 750 GB disk.
After removing the second channell sata drive and assemling the new
750GB drive the system jammed and and did not properly start. I could
see the disk in bios with proper settings.

After removing the the new disk system started normally.

I tried to make the disk to understand sata1 system by applying the
instructions below (making CD from the iso zip file and running it.) but
that did not help.

What to do ?????

** Symptom *
If SATA 3.0Gbps is connected with some mainboards which can only support
SATA 1.5Gbps,
the system should be stopped or hanged up.

** Cause *
When SATA 3.0Gbps is connected with some mainboards which for only SATA
1.5Gbps, the mainboard is applied to it by SATA 1.5Gbps automatically.
But some kind of mainboards can't support it.

** Solution *
1. Patch File to be offered by Samsung electronics can change HDD's
transmission mode 3.0Gbps to 1.5 Gbps compulsory.
2. Some models that are impossible to adjust the mode by the patch file
can be controled to change the jumper pin.
- Target model : HD161JJ
**If you execute the patch file, you can see the Jumper method for the
models which can not be adjusted by the patch file.

1) SATA 3.0 Gbps setting
- SATA1.5G.zip : for FDD use
: Prepare the booting floppy diskette to extract the patch file.
Extract patch file at the booting floppy diskette.
Insert the diskette in the floppy disk.
Type the command of "Run" in A:\> and press the "Enter" key

- SATA1.5G(iso).zip : for CD-Rom use
: Extract "SATA15G.zip" file on the available folder
Burn the CD to use CD recording software.
After booting the computer with CD, type "Run" and press the "Enter" key
in prompt

- BDM_SATA1.5G1.0.zip : Making booting available floppy diskette and Patch
: Extract "BDM_SATA1.5G1.0.zip" and execute it
Then the booting floppy diskette is created and the patch is saved.
Type the command of "Run" in A:\> and press the "Enter" key

2) SATA 3.0 Gbps recovery
- If you want to return back to SATA 3.0 Gbps again, you can download
the recovery files.
(file name : SSpeed.zip / SSpeed(iso).zip / BDM_SpeedSwitch1.0.zip)
- If you execute the recovery files, you can choose the operations(1 or
2) you want to use.
: 1. 1.5G ->3.0G
: 2. 3.0G -> 1.5G

- SSpeed.zip : for FDD use
SSpeed(iso).zip : for CD-Rom use
BDM_SpeedSwitch1.0.zip : Making booting available floppy diskette and Patch

** Attention*
- You can see the jumper method at product label on the HDDs before P120
series.
