"Sapphire Atlantis 9800 Pro" -- is it *really* the pro??

hey,

so ive been shopping for the Sapphire Atlantis Pro 256mb card. i want
"Pro" because i want the 256-bit memory version of the card. according
to sapphire's site, that's the pro. and it's in the green box:

http://www.sapphiretech.com/vga/9800proatl.asp

so i found it cheap, here:

http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merc...e=M&Product_Code=190240&AFFIL=pricewatch&NR=1

....however, i noticed that in the details text, where they copy &
pasted from sapphire's site, that they *excluded* the line saying which
-bit memory version this is. and the card in the initial photo is *not*
the pro. however, in the "More Images" section, the box is the green
one (Pro), and the card is the silver heatsink (Pro). they say the
manufacturer's number is: 100557, which i dont think is sapphire's
format.

this is strange.

can anyone comment on this?

thanks!
matt

Try googling "sapphire 100557" and seee what happens.

yeah, for the most part it comes back w/ results that are positive.

but it's strange to me that someone at Monarch removed the bit speed
from Sapphire's marketing material (pasted into their product desc).
ive read posts on here that Monarch Computer was an "iffy" vendor, etc,
so it seemed prudent to ask for outside opinion.

thanks.

Suggest you email Monarch and ask them directly, quoting the SKU # and
linking to the page. All the recent posts on Monarch had good things to say
about the vendor.

BTW, it's very likely *none* of the photos are depicting the card you will
get. Many recent Sapphire cards use the 9800XT PCB and R360 core. It is
identifiable by a small shrouded "box" cooler and a low-profile VGA
connector. Needless to say these are the most desirable ones.
