Samsung ML-2010 toner save non-functional?

I'm unable to get the "toner save" function to work on my Samsung
ML-2010; pressing the [only] button on the printer does -not- light the
toner-save LED, nor do I find any option to enable it in the print
dialogs presented when printing a document (from any application). I'm
running on a Mac (OSX, 10.4.5): have any other Mac users of this
printer model been successful in enabling this feature? TIA...

Did you hold it down? I have a 1740 and you have to hold the button donw
about 5 sec before the light comes on.

Holding the button down (on my ML-2010) for more than a couple seconds
causes it to print a test page, but doesn't turn on the "toner save"
indicator. But thanks for the suggestion.

try to hold it for one second - ar just a bit longer. On my Xerox (which is
basically samsung) i must hold it down for appr. 1 second, while holding it
for two will do test page.

Timing is everything :) -- your suggestion worked. I have to hold
the button for just about 1.5 seconds to enable the toner save
function; too long and I get the test page, too short and nothing
happens. Many thanks for the tip!
