Same Font - some visible, some not

Judy

I created a reporting system, moved it to someone else's
pc, and when I brought up a report, 99% of the numeric
values failed to appear on-screen or on the printout. All
text fields appeared to be fine.

My first thought was that it was a font issue, but all
text and numeric fields were times new roman. The fields
were all set to visible and worked fine on my pc.

After trying several fonts, I changed the font to arial
narrow, which seemed to work on their pc, however now the
same "disappearing fields" have disappeared on me.

I could understand if the whole report was blank, but some
things show up and some don't.

Any ideas?

Have you tried changing font "faces"; e.g. colors, bolds,
italics, left-right justification, etc. within Times New
Roman. And what about background color? This might help
confirm that the data is being picked up - just not
visible on the page. Maybe you're dealing with different
default settings on the different pc's, although it's
strange that text is okay but numbers are not.
Another idea to try (a bit of a reach) - add a bound text
box next to one of the disappearing values. Set the text
box value = to the disappearing value. If the bound value
is visible but the original is not, then you have a new
thread to follow towards a fix.
Interesting problem - if you fix it, please post your
solution.

Judy,

The symptoms you describe *appear* to match a rather unique problem which
occurs occasionally. It was resolved by "Guylaine" in 2003. Following is
a complete copy of his post.

Begin quoted material:
The fix is quite simple but still strange ...

For some reason the registry key 1025 is set to ON (concerning arabic
language) and the arabic language is not taken care of ...

You either turn it OFF :
Key : HKEY_USERS\<<user
identity>>\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\LanguageRessources\1025
(As to be done for every user on the machine)

or install the arabic language (good for everyone):
Control Panel
Regional settings
General tab
Check the arabic language
Accept and reboot

I found it on Microsoft French site KB469516:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://www.microsoft.com/intl
kb/france/articles/F19/5/16.asp

If you have the problem I'm sure you can read french !!

Take care

Guylaine

Thank you both for your suggestions, adding arabic didn't
help, and I didn't have a key in the registry for 1025.

All of my field formats were set exactly the same, except
for the contents. It is the strangest thing I have ever
seen.

The suggestion to try using the bound text box helped.
After seeing the value come up, I tried changing font size
from 8 down to 6 or 4, and that actually worked for some
of the fields, but again not all. And having fonts that
small isn't an option. It's not that the boxes are too
small or anything. The one total field comes up
consistently, no matter what font I use, so size can't be
the issue.

If the problem only affected one font consistently, or
affected both pc's in the same way, I could deal with
this, but it's so inconsistent.
