John

I keep getting prompted every morning that new updates are downloaded and
ready to be installed. It's the same one every day: Security Update for
Microsoft Data Access Components (KB823718). This is not only affecting my
machine, but other machines in my office as well. Any advice would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
John

In C:\WINDOWS\system32 find and delete the CatRoot2 folder. Reboot. Retry
the updates.

Try this MS Knowledge Base article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319109&Product=winxp
- Windows Update Site Lists Updates That You Already Installed

Here is a link to the Windows Update Troubleshooter:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

It is not suggested that you delete the CatRoot2 folder; as you will see
from the WU Troubleshooter, it is better to rename it.
