Safely Remove Hardware Icon Gone

Experienced a power outage couple of days ago, when the
my XP machine was running. When I restarted the
computer, the "Safely Remove Hardware" Icon was/is no
longer showing on the System Tray. No, it is not
hidden. Toolbar properties show that the icon is set
to "always show". But is not there.

I use the Safely Remove Hardware feature often, to
disconnect firewire hard drive (for video capture) and
digicam.

Any suggestions as to retore the Safely Remove Hardware
icon or suggestions (i.e., command) to run the service?
