Safe to Remove Hardware Notification

I am using Windows Vista.
I also use a USB thumb/pen drive

When I want to disconnect, I select the Safely remove hardware icon on the
taskbar and select "Safely Remove Hardware".

Vista pops up a message "Safe to Remove Hardware"
I then need to click "OK" to close the message.

Windows XP pops up the same message but you do not have to click OK to close
the notification.

How do I make Vista do the same thing. I know it is a small thing, but I
find it really annoying. I dont know why they have changed it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you see the plug in device icon in the notification area change or
disappear, that means you can safely remove it.

There is no problem disconnecting the device, it is just the extra mouse
click on "OK" I find annoying. With XP you did not need to click OK.

You don't have to click OK, just remove it and the OK dialog box will
disappear.

All the best,
George
