SAFE MODE?

hello,
im running xp home .I have 2 accounts 1 for me as administrator and 1 for my
daughter which is also administrator account .yesterday i went into safe
mode to remove a stubborn program but when i got there it showed only
administrator account and my daughters .
I clicked on the administrator account and it prompted me for a password,
but before i could type anything , it just restarted and booted normally.I
know this is not normal since i cannot do anything in safe mode . Can
someone help me figure out whats going on ?

Sounds like a virus....but you will need to examine it more. Do you have an
anti virus program installed?
