Safe Mode

I can not open Word. The first startup window opens up and it just stays
frozen. When i try opening it again it allows me to open the program in Safe
Mode. I went to my start up folder for office and it is empty. I have tried
re-installing the program and Word continues to do the same thing is there
anything I can do to fix this problem?
