Safe Mode trouble

I have a user who used msconfig to select start up in safe mode, however when
he went into safe mode he must have selected without networking options,
because not only can he not sign into his computer, the admin account is not
able to sign into the computer. Any suggestions on how to correct and
possibly disable msconfig to have it boot in normal mode. Is there a DOS
command for this? F8 does not appear to work.

You should be able to sign in to the local administrator account without
networking options. The local administrator default account id is
'administrator' and the password is blank.

If this is a domain and you do not know the local machine administrator
password, create a boot floppy:

1. From an XP machine copy ntdetect.com and ntldr to the floppy.

2. Use Notepad to create a file:

[boot loader]
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect

Save the file to the floppy and name it boot.ini

3. On the problem machine, boot to the floppy and log onto the domain.
