sabotaged by Mac

I opened a friend's Email which originated on her new,"wonderful" MAC.
The Email came in with big bold letters. After closing her Email and
started working on Word 2003 my screen picked up the large size and format
of her Mac. How do I get rid of this unwanted "improvement"

Essentially you appear to have saved the style configuration from the
e-mailed document to your normal template.First of all check tools >
options > save > prompt to save Normal template, so that such changes are
not automatically made to that template in future (you will be prompted to
agree to changes)

or simply rename normal.dot to normal.old with Word and Outlook closed.

On further reflection also uncheck the 'automatically update' check box from
the format styles dialog.
