Ok, I'm seeing all this stuff on SATA, and all this stuff
on the improvement in performance of a SATA RAID array. I
did some research.
Basically, every company that does a benchmark is coming
up with different results for performance.
I want some people that actually have a S-ATA RAID 0
array to tell me how things run before I make the
investment.
Such as, stripe size. I read that faster I/O comes from a
smaller stripe size, but better performance for games and
stuff with a 128. Has anybody tried multiple sizes and
are able to tell me what they feel the difference is?
All you see is smaller = speed, larger = performance. I
want some real actual details of how much performance and
speed you get.
Also, Pagefile performance. If you have heavy pagefile
usage, does S-ATA RAID 0 boost performance of this? I
would imagine things are considerably faster with this.
Just need some feedback for verification.
I'm just hesitant to sink the money into this. It seems
like it's a boost, but exactly how much of a boost? From
what I've read, the best drive for a gamer like me is the
74 gig 10k RPM S-ATA Raptor. From what I've read, this
drive will outperform the 36 gig WD Raptor?
2 of the 74 gig drives are definately expensive. I just
want to make sure they are worth the money.
So, hit me with some feedback. Assuming I get some good
responses I'd like to get the drives purchased ASAP.
Thank you in advance
