On my User file, every time I try to open Internet Explorer, My Documents, or
My Computer, an alert message pops up and says that Runtime has caused it to
close in an unusual way and that I should contact the support team for each
of the programs. My desktop then disappears for a moment, and returns like
nothing happened. What does this mean?

It depends on the exact runtime error.
Just in case it is this one...

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.
Runtime Error!
Program: c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
----
Try uninstalling the Google toolbar using Control Panel-Add/Remove.

Another option:
Malware Removal:

Another option:
Another user receiving runtime errors fixed it by disabling McAfee's
Anti-Phishing filter.
