Runtime - lost my right-click menu!

J

Jerry Haynes

How do I enable the right-click popup menu in Access 2003 Runtime? I have
all the checkboxes checked in the Startup options. I've played with
customizing a toolbar and menubar, but they are not nearly as nice as the
popup menu.

Thanks,
Jerry

That's a limitation of the runtime. You need to use custom menus in a
runtime app. You can create your own pop-up menus, though (they're called
'shortcut menus' in the menu customization dialog boxes). I don't like the
interface for creating shortcut menus myself, so what I do is create them as
normal menu bars, add menu items to them, then change them to shortcut menus
as the last step.

Hi Brendan,
Thanks for your prompt response.
In the popup menu (from the full version), there is an option called "Filter
for " with a textbox where users can enter the filter criteria. Users
really like this method of filtering, but I can't find it when adding
buttons/menus to my toolbar.

Thanks,
Jerry

I'm not sure that option is available in the runtime - I know filter-by-form
isn't. I'm not 100% certain about 'filter-for' and 'filter-by-selection'
though - anyone else?

Bad news all around, Jerry! The runtime doesn't allow for a "Filter for...",
which is a shame, because it is such an effective, easy and useful way to do
a quick filter/search. Definitely on the top of my wishlist for the runtime!
:(

Cheers!
