Runtime error

I am unable to open Internet Explorer, and get an error message indicating a
runtime error, then something about an abnormal termination. Any ideas on
how to fix that?

It would help significantly if you could please include more information,
such as the error dialog text, your version of IE, and your operating system.

Runtime Library Microsoft Visual C++, Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.

Hi,

Out of curiousity, is that the only cause for a runtime error with IE? Or
are there other factors that influence that error message? That is, what leads
you to immediately suspect that particular parasite / configuration?

Thank you, both, for your quick replies. I have followed your advice on
removing the commonname parasite. FYI, the verbatim error message is:

"Runtime Error

Program: D:\Program files\internetexplorer\iexplorer.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the applications support team for more information."

I do not know that the parasite mentioned is the problem, I am working
through all the instructions in the doxdesk instructions. But, wanted to
thank you for your response.

I am unable even to open the browser, have been using MSN in the interim. I

Iexplorer.exe is adware. The executable for Internet Explorer is
iexplore.exe - note the lack of a final 'r'. See:

My mistake, I apologize. The error message does not have an "r" on the end,
but reads:

Program: D:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe
