runtime error

Recently I have experienced a problem when using internet
expolorer where I get a message that says "Runtime error
abnormal program termination." Internet explorer
experiences an application error and my internet
connection cuts off. I have tried downloading the Direct
X runtime component. Any suggestions?

Runtime Library Microsoft Visual C++, Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.
