Runtime Error - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

T

Terri

Have reinstalled my XP Pro OS and all associated programs.

As part of that reinstall I have created two profiles in Outlook 2002
(a part of M/S Office XP Pro) and imported the .PST files from the
previous installation.

A one time error message was received as follows:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Program: C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more
information.

The previous error message has not been experienced since. However,
after closing Outlook and switching between profiles I receive the
following error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE
Abnormal program termination
OK

After clicking OK, the Outlook program terminates. Opening the same
profile second and subsequent times, everything is functional. The
error only occurs if I close Outlook with one profile and open the
second and vice versa.

Both updates to XP Office were applied as well as trying to remove XP
Office (via Control Panel) and reinstalling – all to no avail. Alas,
the same error message continues to be experienced.

I have searched Microsoft's Knowledge Base and have found several
instances of the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error messages;
however, they did not apply to the Outlook 2002 version.

Thanks in advance for any anticipated assistance.

I had this identical problem. It was solved by completely
removing my antivirus and firewall programs and
reinstalling them after Outlook was up and running.

Steve,

Many thanks for your post. I have the same issue. I
take it you didn't have to reinstall Outlook or MS Office
to solve the problem. Thanks in advance should you see
this and reply.
