I am working with Windows 2000 Professional with all
latest updates and service packs. I have Norton 2004 Pro
and Zone Alarm Pro installed. I have a problem runing a
scan disk on my C:\ Drive. I open My computer, right
click on C:\ and choose properties, I then choose the
Tools tab, then under the Error checking field I click
check now. Next a window pops up telling me "The disk
check could no tbe preformed because the disk check
utility needs exclusive access to some Winodws Files on
the disk. These files ca be accessed only by restarting
windows. Do you want to schedule this disk check to occur
the next time you restart the computer?" Then a yes and
no option. When I select "yes" and reboot my machine it
makes it past the bios, then the first Windows Screen and
then I get an error message "Cannot open dirve for direct
access, Finished error check...." I just did a Repair to
the OS using the disk and still no luck in resolving the
issue. This is happening on 2 diffrent machines that I am
working with. Any one have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

Zone Alarm recently has had some problems with I.E.. You might
consider installing msconfig out of XP, and use a selective startup
to see. You also can uninstall ZA, and install a freebie like Sygate
to see if that may be your problem.
