running slow

Does anyone have a problem with windows xp running slow
or downloading half way and stoping right now. If you do
what are you doing about it? Could you please give me

Please scan your system with latest "virus signature file" from your
antivirus vendor's Web site.I shall also suggest you to download and
install Spybot Search and Destroy/Spyblaster as well as Adaware.

Also, a disk cleanup and defragment in start>accessories>system tool
afterwards wouldn't hurt.
