Yes, on a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP (P4) board, which comes with onboard ICHR5 &
Silicon Image RAID controllers (I have two Seagate SATA drives on the SiI
controller. Works very well for me (got over 57mb/sec SiSoft Sandra scores),
but others on alt.com.periphs.mainboard.gigabyte have reported some
installation/stability difficulties. Make backups before trying, but well
worth it. Good luck.
I just set up a Seagate Barracuda SATA on an Asus A7N8S Deluxe with the
Silicone Image chip with WinXP Pro. Works great. A few considerations,
though. You will need to be ready to load the RAID drivers from a floppy
during installation of Windows. I don't know what would be involved with
adding the drive on a computer that has Windows already installed.
