running processes - should I be worried?

Some of the processes in Windows Task Manager have
me worried.

For instance, I keep seeing service.exe listed as a process.
It says here that this is a security risk:
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/service/
(no, I'm not confusing it with the normal services.exe, I have both
processes. I've run various virus checkers and spybot, but they
detect no problem.

Also, is it normal to have 5 x svchost.exe running? and 4 x cidaemon.exe?
I've been told it might be hiding virus activity.

5 x svchost is Pro, 4 x is home. One assumes you are indexing 4 drives?

There are probably legit programs called service.exe (I can't imagine someone hasn't thought of this name before). MSinfo32 will show (probably) the path to the file.

I have 4 svchost.exe, they're normal. What is worrying is the
cidaemon, it is from the indexing service. Try going to Start > Run >
services.msc and disable index service there. If the cidaemon remain
after this, then perform a virus scan.

Good luck
