Running Problems

I just bought a game and I have used it on my computer before but I lost it
so I had to by a new one...I have installed it properly but when ever I go to
run the game it doesn't play...it doesn't really do anything. I have the cd
in the drive and everything is working but my computer will not play it...I
have the vista operating system and I have had many problems with installing
and running games I have put on here...Is there any dianostics or
troubleshooting I can do? I've tried everything that my computer help and
support can recommend and nothing has helped
